The Hi’en are the beautiful, immortal, and increasingly rare folk originating from Osvala. Coming from the frigid mountains, in exploring beyond their peaks they came into contact with the Aurig, immediately sparking a bloody war that decimated the Hi’en populace. Many of their people were captured and forced into slavery – those that survived fled back to the sanctuary of their mountains. As the Aurig traveled they brought Hi’en slaves with them, the escapees establishing small colonies on the new lands. In Bothmas slavery is outlawed by the treaty with the Kdabi, though foreigners may keep their slaves with them as they visit. There are a few free Hi’en towns where refugees struggle to rebuild their lives and reclaim their culture. The Tai’jua clan is foremost in these efforts, running the town of Ju’on Pass. The original Hi’ei religion follows the Hi’en Pantheon. Other Hi’en forgo their culture and have gone to join the Kdabi, who welcome them.
Hi’en typically have light-colored hair and eyes, with elongated features. They typically stand between 5’ 6" and 6’ tall. Permanent body modification is frowned upon in the old ways, but those who join the Kdabi often embrace the once-taboo practices of their new kin.
